Welcome Discount-Appliances first opened its doors in 1992 in Barkingside High Street. Our main priority was to set ourselves apart from other high street retailers by only employing highly trained, knowledgeable staff that had been in the appliance industry for a considerable time. We believe that our customers should not be part of our own internal training process for new members of staff. In fact all members of staff that take telephone calls and answer customer's enquiries have worked for the company for a minimum of Five Years.

About Us In 1996 the Internet was still in its infancy, and online shops were virtually nonexistent. But the then proprietor Mr Fountain and one of our work colleagues had the foresight to realise the huge potential the Internet offered to the retail sector. So he spent many hours in our back office designing and building our first website and a year later in 1997 it was ready to go "on-line" and started to trade as Discount-Appliances.co.uk. After liaising with the kitchen appliance manufacturers, it was clear that it would provide a much better service to the end user, if deliveries were made direct by the manufacturer. So we arranged for them to deliver direct to our customers by their own Delivery services to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Straight from the manufacturer to our customers, only brand new fresh stock delivered every time, by professional appliance delivery teams.

Within two years sales on the website outstripped, by a factor of six, sales through the shops because of our Customer Care Policy, standard of Service and Great Prices. We were convinced that the future of kitchen appliance retailing was via our online website, and the senior two members of staff purchased the company from Mr. Fountain on his retirement five years ago, but he still pops in from time to time (most days) for his "mug of tea and wedge of Dundee".

Our Services Today after serving many thousands of customers we still do not show "valueless" stock availabilities, as others often do on other websites. In many cases when websites which display "in stock" the customer is often disappointed when a few days later they are sent a cursory email advising them that there was a mistake and the item was never in stock. We are always happy to check stock prior to placing an order, so please feel free to email or call one of our team for an actual live stock check. Customers occasionally contact us before placing an order we take their postcode, put a test order on the relevant manufacturer's website and check availability which is usually with Bosch, Neff or Siemens 3 to 4 working days.

When orders come into our Sales Office they are placed on each manufacturers home delivery website for direct delivery by the manufacturers, and our customers are telephoned by us as the order is actually being placed to arrange a convenient day for their delivery. The day before delivery they are contacted by the Manufacturers delivery team and given a four hour delivery window for the following day. This is usually between five and nine the previous evening, but sometimes early on the morning on the delivery day . At the time of delivery the goods are taken into a room of the customer's choice, before a signature is required. This does cost us a little more but it ensures complete Customer Satisfaction.

Although we are a very modern forward thinking company, we are a little old fashioned in our outlook to customer service, as we believe much of the goodwill which companies sought to create in years gone past has long since been forgotten. Our valued customers can rest assured that each and every order, small or large, is very important to us. The Internet has changed the face of retailing, and in some instances it could be argued that it has created a cold and indifferent approach to retailing. This is not something that we subscribe too, and in fact, if you do happen to contact us, you can be sure of a warm and friendly response at all times.
